周一上午把AW（GRE的作文考试，Analytical Writing）搞定了。突然感觉轻松了很多。五一以来两个多月的忙碌生活的疲劳身心，终于可以稍事休息，也有时间来经营一下自己的space了。这段时间没怎么和朋友联系，短信也懒得回，电话也没有怎么打，弄的好像失踪一般。下面就以流水账的形式记录一下这段生活。

 

May 1st~9th: 五一的假期。以为担心自己暑假会完全被ETS毁掉（事实也基本证实了这点），所以抽出五一回家，看看父母。任务完成的不错，除了和Salina宝贝见了一面，基本窝都在家。其间，被热心的小翟骚扰，害的我唯恐G的作文报不到如意的日期，心想赶到九月就麻烦了，所以8号就已经呆不住，9号就赶紧回学校。

 

May 10～July 2nd： 复习考试，印度。回来就慌慌张张把G给报了。由于不知道期末考试的具体时间，就大概报了7月中旬的一个时间。然后，就是准备期末考试了。发现大三第二个学期由于忙一些杂事，成绩很难看，严重影响了GPA，所以第三个学期就不敢怠慢了。花了不少时间，结果还是比较令人满意的。其间穿插一个去印度的选拔考试，纯进去混混，放弃了一个名额。想想班加罗儿的游泳池，心里还是动了一下，最终信念让我选择了放弃。还要感谢Marshall和他lp，在报名的时候帮了大忙！

 

July 2nd～July 17th： AW，BBS事件，保研。

七月二号期末考试结束。然后就主攻AW。2号上午考试结束，下午还给自己放了半天假。估计当时比较托大，认为AW2个星期完全可以搞定，结果第一周结束之际，才觉得不妙。这两周真是很忙。AW题库一共有四百五十左右道题，考试的时候从其中抽2道写，给时45＋30分钟。先复习argument，看了2天，就写出了第一篇文章。当时还沾沾自喜，结果一踏入issue的海洋，才明白为什么人家推荐作文的准备时间要一个月或者以上。issue的题库实在内容广博，从文化教育到艺术科学，从传媒历史到政治自然，如果想要好好为每个分类准备材料，那可是真的很辛苦，而且很耗时间。那段时间，早上6点多起床，到外边买些早点，带到自习教室，边吃边看argument题库；早饭结束。根据分类和鸡精，写issue。这里要感谢老沈，Salina，小翟等等同学，经常骚扰他们，问些语法和例子的问题。他们都不厌其烦，非常耐心。中午吃完快餐，回到住处，看argument题库，看到实在困了，午睡。下午继续去自习教室写issue，晚上模考，十一点睡觉。所有“空闲”时间，比如骑自行车，排队，脑子里基本都在想issue应该怎么论证。非常憔悴。觉得，如果考试前再让我那么学一个星期，真要崩溃了。7月16下午，进城。先找到考点门口踩盘子，然后找宾馆住下。17好，6点半起床洗澡，到食堂吃饭，7点50进入考点。先是一个同学没有学生证，说自己刚刚毕业，拿个一个系里的证明。结果老师说不行，一定要学校抬头的纸。一会儿，又一个同学学生证上的名字和身份证不一样。我真是纳闷，真是什么事都有。又被老师要求回学校开证明。据说他学校在东郊，不知道最后那个哥们儿有没有赶回来。填个人信息，抄誓词，然后等着被叫入场。当时心情非常紧张，都可以刚觉到心脏紧张的跳动。很快，老师叮嘱一番，进入了考场。考场大概有15平方米，10台电脑。空气不好，很闷。电脑是很挫的COMPAQ，还有软驱。怀疑里边的那张软盘就是所谓的考试题库，可是自己的一举一动都被全程录像，不敢轻举妄动。键盘也是COMPAQ的，感觉不好，很硬，鼠标也比较脏...很快，比我先进场的哥们的键盘就噼里啪啦的响起来了。我也赶紧开始了。前边教你使用电脑的tutorial不谈。在出现issue题库的前一页，紧张到了极点。心狂跳。稳了10秒，深吸一口气，按了PROCEED。第一个题，The more kinds of government proceedings that are televised, the more society will benefit.恩，不错！这个题想过！然后第二个选择瞄了一下，就选择了第一题。中间休息了1分钟，后开始做argument。argument反而是我没见过的：公司监督职工Internet使用情况。不过argument毕竟比issue容易。最后选了4个必申的学校。到门口和老师say bye。rp还不错。AW之路就这样结束了。

 

其间还经历过一次bbs风波。导火索是有个老师平时上课就不爽，结果给分很低，很多人挂，而且那个是指选课，不修还不行。于是有人发帖，晚上发的当晚就上了十大，早上就被斑竹合集。于是更多的人不满，对学院版的对事件的一位打压的态度，对学生言论自由的漠视。当时院版血雨腥风，疯狂合集，疯狂封号；学生对斑竹出现过激言辞，同时表示对学院的严重失望。最终的结果，不出意外，两个闹的最凶的被扣以“侮辱老师”的罪名，被严重警告。很多人被辅导员，甚至党委书记拉去“教育”。而学院，仍然看不到进步。其间，我还发个一个贴，当时有望上十大。结果被斑竹及时“封杀”。内地的教育，我感觉是该严的不严，不该严的很严。举个例子。很多老师上课的时候松松垮垮，曾经有个老师因为“结婚”缺了四五次课，没人过问。检查作业的时候，不论老师还是助教，都没有遵照一个系统的评分过程，往往是配合学生“混”，学生随便弄一份，老师随便查一下，随便给个分。此为该严不严。很多老师给分经常给我们59分。我说，你是不是找不痛快？要是我们学的不行，给个四五十分，我们认了。差一分及格，你这不是明摆着卡我们么？再说言论自由。自从那次事件后，人人自危，唯恐哪天说错了话被辅导员叫去谈话。我说，我交你那么多学费，给家里带来那么大负担，结果是连对自己上的课的提意见的权利都么有，这算什么？你跟绑匪还可以谈条件，现在学校比绑匪还凶，你连条件都不敢讲！

 

七月，保研了。这个在很长时间影响了我最终决定的保研，终于来了。曾经设想过大义凛然地放弃一个名额给下边的同学，结果却很搞笑。由于有一个学期在UST，有一门课没有修，保研的时候算了0分，结果GPA就出了保研名额以外。这倒是方便，安安静静就过去了。看着保研同学欢乐的笑容，“终于可以过猪的生活了”，就想起了高中那些保送的同学，高三一年放肆的在教室前踢足球。羡慕他们，不过我更明白，任何事情都是有代价的。坚持，相信那个属于自己的笑容就在不远的将来。

两个多月来，没有时间进城，没有什么娱乐，唯一的乐事估计就是晚上去打打球，还有逗逗巷子里的小白狗。

三伏来了。人们走了。小翼帮忙，搞到一个小机房。下边就是托福，选校，sub，TSE...

八月份终于决定要回去一趟了。真想你们。

In this argument, the auther recommends that the residents of Clearview should vote for Ann Green instread of Frank Braun in the next mayoral election. To support his conclusion, the author points out that the current members are not pretecting the environment of Clearview by citing the statistics about the growth of the factories, increase of pollution level and patients with respiratory illness. In addition, the agruer advocates that the environmental problems in Clearview will certainly be solved once Ann Green is elected as the mayor. At first glance, the arguer's argument seems appealing. But further examination will reveal that it omits some important concerns that should be addressed to substantiate the argument.

 

Firstly, this argument fails to present overall abilities of the two candidates. It merely takes the attitudes toward of environmental protection into main consideration, ruling out many other important characterists as to a qulified mayor. Perhaps, Frank Braun has been showing his telents on economy, education and politics, while his adversary, on the other hand, can do nothing but enviromental protection. If so, follow the author's recommendation may not be advisable for Clearview's citizens.

 

Secondly, there is no evidence that the environmental problems will centeraily be solved after Ann Green takes the mayor's position. We can not infer from the argument about the case that Ann Green holds the plan of solving the environmental problems or makes any promise of doing so after winning in the election. Even if it was so, which is, of course, based on unwarranted assumption, it is entirely possible that he can not put the plan into practice due to some reasons, or simply he eats his words. So without convincing evdiences to demonstate Ann Green's attitude about Environmental protection and the feasibility of his plan, the auguer's recommendations are not worthy of consideration.

 

Finally, the author grouldlessly attributes the increase of patients with respiratory illness to environmental protection, which is based on unwarrent assumption that enviromental pollution is the only factor that contributes to the increase of that kind of disease. However, it is entirely possible that many other factors could augment the number of patients suffering respitory illness. For example, a serious strike of infective cold to Clearview may bring  lots of respratiory patients into local hospital, which has nothing to do with environmental pollution. As it stands, the auther's conclusion is based upon an oversimplified analysis of the issue.

 

In conclusion, the author fails to validate the recommendation that voting for Ann Green is wiser than for Frant Braun. To make it logically acceptable, the author should demonstarte that Ann Green is comprehensively more qualifed than Frant Braun. In addition, the author would have to provide more concete evdiences to establish the cause-and-effect relationship between respiarory illness and environmenal protection through ruling out the perspective causes of that kind of disease.(472 words)
